Meet the Team

Our team are highly trained in many areas and are happy to look after your general health and more specific requirements.  We are dedicated to listening to you, discussing your physical and mental concerns in an honest and open fashion. We will provide you with up to date, evidence-based medical advice to make informed choices when it comes to managing your health.

​For many years our practice has been involved in the education of medical students and students may visit the practice to observe consultations as part of their curriculum.  We always advise patients in advance if a student is present and will only invite a student to observe your consultation with your full permission.

​

The practice is also a training practice for specialist trainees in general practice from the Irish College of General Practitioners training scheme. These trainees are qualified experienced doctors and are undertaking further experience and training in general practice. They remain in the practice from periods of 6 months to 1 year.

Meet our Doctors

Dr Peter Joyce

​

Dr Peter Joyce is from Galway. He graduated in Medicine in UCG in 1997.  

He completed his General Practice training on Cork training scheme and became a Member of the ICGP in 2000. 

He started Charleville Family Practice in 2002. He became a GP trainer and CFP became a training practice in 2009. 

He has a Diploma in Child Health from UCD. He was Chairman of the North Cork faculty of the ICGP from 2005 to 2009. He is a founder member of the Cork Diabetes Interest Group. He is the Honorary Medical Officer for St Joseph's Foundation. 

He is a keen cyclist.

Dr Caitriona Cusack

Dr Caitriona Cusack graduated from Medicine UCC in 1999 and completed medical membership examinations before training in dermatology for several years. 

She decided to retrain as a GP, completing vocational general practice training and obtaining membership of the ICGP in 2013. She also obtained additional qualifications in Child Health, Diabetes and Palliative Care. 

She has a keen interest in women’s health, has obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma with the RCOG and is a member of the British Menopause Society. Dr Cusack maintains an interest in dermatology and has obtained a Diploma in Clinical Dermatology from the University of Cardiff. She is currently studying for a Diploma with the RCPI.

Meet our Management & Administration Team

Charleville Family Practice has a dedicated and conscientious team of administrative staff who are the first contact for patients accessing our services. The team undertakes the diverse range of administrative tasks needed to run the Practice to provide services to our patients. Our medical secretaries have a variety of skills and experience. The functions of the team and the management of the practice is co-ordinated by our Practice Manager, Mary O’Sullivan. Mary has over 25 years’ experience as a Practice Manager.
